“Stand for something or you will fall for anything” Alexander Hamilton
I use to be wishy-washy in standing up for my beliefs. I called it going with the flow. Anyone one else just go along with the beliefs of others and not stand up for what you believe? I did, because I didn’t want to cause conflict in any of my relationships.
Over the years, I realized that by not standing up for what I believed, I was compromising who I was by not allowing people to know the real me.
At the core of every person there are core beliefs. These beliefs are either ones that were passed down through your family or ones that you decided were important enough to make a part of who you are. Maybe you believe that all life is precious and should be preserved. Maybe you believe that all men are created equal or maybe you believe that coffee is the best drink ever. No matter what your beliefs are, if you have found value in them…stand up and support your belief. Does this mean you have to shout it from the rooftops or hold up signs in protest. Well.. maybe. The best way to stand up for your beliefs is to LIVE YOUR BELIEFS. It is easier to not be swayed if your beliefs become part of your every day life. Other people may criticize you but stay strong. Others may try to sway you, but have confidence that you are a capable person with the ability to make competent choices about what is right for you.
You will find that you will be respected for who you truly are and not for who everyone thinks you are.
